Hopi/Zuni Kachina/Katsina carver William Lucio hand carved and painted this beautiful Native American Koshare or “Clown” kachina from one piece of Cottonwood Root.
William’s was taught by his uncle Marlin Pinto, a well known Hopi carver. The clown katsina are representations of inappropriate behavior by the hopi people known as “qahopi” (un-hopi).
