Dina was raised by the Wichita tribe of the Great Plains, in Southwest Oklahoma, where she grew up with nature, seeing horses, buffalos, and wolves. Dina developed a passion for horses and was inspired to reproduce their beauty with pencil sketches and paintings. Soon after, she was taught the craftsmanship of traditional beadwork from her aunt, and became known for her beaded deerskin purses. In 1989, Dina’s pique of interest was to learn jewelry making by her well known late husband, Herbert Taylor. He taught her the Navajo art of inlay and overlay techniques. Though the art world lost Herbert in 1996, his wife has dedicated herself to creating masterful works of wearable art in his memory. Dina developed her own sense of style using themes from the pains, such as horse, buffalo wolf, and weather images using the finest turquoise, diamonds, silver and 18k gold. She has received many awards from Santa Fe Indian Market, the Heard Museum, as well as the Autry Indian Marketplace.
