Gerald and Mary, husband and wife duo, known for their exquisite heishi jewelry. Both of their families are well-known heishi creators and designers. Mary was born to Raymond and Reyes Nieto in 64’, at age 12 she learned how to make pottery and jewelry from her mom. Gerald’s parents Pula and Delphanita Calabaza, were the first to develop the multi-colored necklaces in the 70’s. One of their inlay creations is worn by Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Ginsberg. It’s said to be one of her favorite necklaces. Gerald and Mary are proud of carrying on the family’s tradition and are now teaching their son the craftsmanship of heishi jewelry and selling them alongside his parents. 

Gerald and Mary’s unique heishi and inlay designed statement pieces have won them multiple rewards, at the Indian Market shows. Every stone and shell they use is drilled, cut and ground down by hand.The calabaza’s copper disc trademark is found closer to the clasp, and it’s stamped with “GC” or “LC”.
