Navajo artist Darryl Becenti was born in 1957 in Gallup, NM. He was taught silversmithing by his brothers-in-law Leroy and David Reeves in the 1970’s. Darryl comes from a family of silversmith’s such as the well known Sunshine Reeves and the Cadman brothers. Formerly a sandpainter, Darryl started making jewelry in 1988. He even created his own custom stamps and dyes in shapes of stars, fans, scallops, and shells for his jewelry. Darryl was known for his deep stamped Navajo designs, repousé silver work and thick gauges of silver. Sadly Darryl passed away, you can find all his jewelry is signed with a D Becenti and an arrow above.
